In an attempt to keep meal time fun and peak my toddlers' interest in new (or not-so-new-but-suddenly-hated) foods, I picked these up to use as a novelty item. While they are a little complicated for the kids to use at this point (they are not quite 2 and don't yet understand how to use tongs - we'll work on it!), using these with my help encouraged one of them to eat an entire serving of baked white fish! The other is apparently too smart for his own good and still refused, though he was inspired to try to use the tongs just like his brother. :)I didn't see washing instructions, but threw them in the dishwasher. They came out great! I was pleased to see that the little hands seem to be very securely attached. I'll come back to update the review if repeated washings or use have an impact on the quality. But, for now, these are exactly as I hoped they would be. I look forward to using these for novelty silverware and also some sensory / fine motor skill play in the future!My only complaint is that 2 days after I bought these, they were offered as an add-on item for $2 less.
